Spring has Sprung

A lot of our friends come back to Cedar Key RV Resort year after year and we like the community feel that the park has.   You can be as social (or not!) as you want.  There always seems to be something going on with it’s a planned park activity or a spur of the moment outing.

A few weeks ago,  we celebrated a milestone birthday for our friend (and park manager!), Lesa.  She turns 50 in May and since most of us will not be here then, decided to celebrate her birthday the 50th day of the year (Feb 19th)!  We wanted it to be a surprise and we told her that it was a belated Valentine’s Day celebration.  She was so into making all sorts of things “Valentine-y” like cheesecake stuffed strawberries and a huge red velvet cake.  She is also very scared of clowns so of course we had to play on that!
Surprise!
She was so surprised and so scared!  She ran out of the clubhouse screaming!  It was a hoot!

We enjoyed a wonderful prime rib dinner with so many delicious sides.  We had beverages galore including some homemade “hooch” in two flavors…..root beer and peppermint.  We danced and laughed and danced and laughed some more.  Lesa was thrown in the pool - fully clothed - before the night was over.  It was a great, great night.

We are getting good use of our boat now.  We’ve taken it out several times in the past several weeks. It’s always a fun time and very relaxing.

And, even more friends!

Yes, this is very relaxing!
We always see wildlife!

Amazing!

One thing that I really like about going out in the Gulf off the coast of Cedar Key is that there are so many islands to explore.  Some are part of the Wildlife Refuge and don’t allow admittance past the beach; while you can explore others.  Some are large, others are small.  All (that we have been to) are nice.

When we are in the Gulf, we have always seen dolphins.  These two were especially playful and we watched them off and on for at least 30 minutes.

This past weekend, I went to the Trenton Quilt  Festival with some friends.  There were hundreds of quilts around the town.

I love how it looks like this is waving in the wind

Beautiful

Made from polyester leisure suits from the 70's!

Pretty!

Quilts were everywhere!

Love this one!

Seeing all of them sure did give me some ideas for a winter project next year.

Life is good!

Variety is the spice of life!

Wow - where does the time go?  We've had a busy start to the year and here it is mid-February!

So, what have we been up to?  Dan's been working on a few projects of his own and has also been helping our friend Rod build a bike/toolbox rack for the back of Rod and Tammy's rig.

We had a surprise birthday party for Tammy.  And boy, oh boy was she surprised.

It was a great night with friends.

Our morning exercise class decided to take our exercise outside one Friday morning and walk in Cedar Key.  We got there early enough to watch the sunrise.  It was a beautiful morning.

We all agreed that it was a great change of pace and decided that we would walk around Cedar Key every Friday morning....weather permitting.

A group of us from the park were invited over to Shelly and Bob's friend's house one Sunday afternoon for buggy rides and schnitzel meal.  We had about 24 people and the afternoon could not have been better.  Great weather, great friends, and great food.

Those that weren't on the trails were back at the ranch keeping busy too....

A lot of people enjoyed trying out the Segway.  It looked like a lot of fun but since I am not the most coordinated person, decided I better stick with taking pictures.  Syl was flying on the Segway and I could never get a decent picture of her.  Her smile was priceless as it showed how much fun she was having.

We won't be heading north until sometime in April.  It's a good thing as both Dan and I still have quite a few projects that we are working on!

Happy New Year!! (a few weeks late!)

We had such a great time at our New Year's Eve celebration.  Not sure how many people were in attendance but I think everyone had fun!  The park managers, Lesa and Joey, hired a DJ for the night. He played a mix of music and kept us dancing until right before midnight.

Ready to celebrate!

Dancing the night away!

We've been quite busy these past few weeks.  :-)  I have taken up sewing and quilting.  It's something I have been wanting to learn for years...not sure why I never had my mother teach me when I was growing up.  But now I think I am addicted to it!

The quilt is a work in progress....I should have it finished within the next 2 weeks.

We've been hanging out with friends, enjoying a few meals together, and had an awesome time at "Happy Hour" this past Thursday. We all met at the clubhouse and enjoyed a bluegrass band.  It was amazing.  I still go to exercise class 6 times a week....it's a good bunch of ladies and we have fun while working out.  Dan's been doing a bit of tinkering on various projects.

And, we've been shopping!  We picked up this beauty last week.....

Now all we have to do is figure out all the bells and whistles that it came with!!  It sure is a nice, smooth ride.
