Fun Famly Time in South Carolina

Our original plans this Spring and Summer were to head west.  That got postponed so that we could attend two weddings!  My niece, Ciara, was getting married in SC in April; Dan’s nice, Emma, is getting married in PA in September.

So....we left Cedar Key on April 24th and headed to the Charleston, SC area with an overnight stopover in Georgia.  We were VERY lucky to get a site for week at Buck Hall Recreation Area in McClellansville.  We have stayed here before but it is a very popular campground and hard to snag a reservation.

It was quite the chaotic week but so much fun!  Shortly after we arrived, my sisters Cathy (Mother of the Bride) and Barbara picked me up at the campground and we were off and running!  We had a few pre-wedding errands to run and spent some time at the nail salon getting pedicures and manicures.

It was fun sister time and we all got matching nails!

That evening, we had a cookout and campfire at the campground.

Sisters are special!
Fun times with my sisters!
Women who behave rarely make history!!

Love the views at Buck Hall!

The next day, we enjoyed a girl’s lunch in honor of the bride.   Ciara, Barbara, Cathy, and I enjoyed a delightful lunch at a local restaurant in Summerville.

The day before the wedding, the bridge and groom (Bryan) had their rehearsal at their wedding venue.  It is a gorgeous setting.

Their rehearsal dinner was at a restaurant in Shem Creek called “Tavern and Table”.

The food was amazing….the restaurant focuses on small “plates” that are shareable.  We sampled crab and artichoke dip, two kinds of flat breads, pan roasted brussel sprouts with parmesan and these yummies…
Fruits and Cheese - I think my Dad ate MOST of the blackberries!!

Boiled Shrimp

Instead of toasts at the wedding, Ciara and Bryan encouraged anyone who wanted to share stories to do so at that time.
Bryan and Ciara thanked everyone for being there and for their support.

Bryan's Grandfather thinks the world of Ciara.
It was a lovely evening.

The next day, despite a little rain right before the ceremony, Ciara and Bryan’s wedding day was perfect!

Their wedding treats were served from this RV!

The reception was a lot of fun with good food, drinks, music and dancing!

Lovely couple!!

All too soon, it was time to continue our travels north.  We headed to our very own "Korky's Campground" for a month long stay to see my kids, hang out with friends, and take care of those annual doctor appointments.  Stay tuned!

See you in the Fall, Cedar Key!!

We had hitch itch the last few weeks we were in Cedar Key but managed to counteract it with some great friend time!

Gin, Syl, Maggie, Vel and I headed to the bat house at the Lower Suwanee National Wildlife Refuge. It had been on our “to-do” list for quite some time.  There were supposed to be about 40,000 bats in there and I believe there were that many noseeums too!

It was pretty amazing to see (and hear) them come out at dusk.

Another night, we headed to the Tiki Bar for Pina Coladas….

Good to the last drop!

Gin and I LOVED these swings!
We celebrated Maggie and Vel’s purchase of lot 94 by having happy hour at Pelican Place.   Good food, good drinks, good friends!!

Yes, the noseeums were that bad!!

Another night, we went to Maggie and Vel’s place and enjoyed grilled strip steak and shrimp kabobs with sides!  Yum!!

We also passed the time watching and listening to the birds!  Cardinals, hummingbirds, whippoorwills and of course, the owls at night.

And, we went back to the Tiki Bar one last time….
All smiles at the Tiki Bar!

Maggie and Vel left a few days later.  It was kind of quiet without them so we decided to do silly things on their lot and send them pictures.

Goofing off!

Miss you guys!!

We had a “last supper” with Gin and Syl right before we left.

We hitched up and left Cedar Key on April 24th….and we headed to South Carolina for my niece’s wedding.  :-)
